Perched on cliffs overlooking the River Nidd, the picture postcard town of Knaresborough can trace its history back to the Domesday Book.  The town has long drawn curious visitors to Mother Shipton’s Cave and the petrifying well where everyday objects turn to stone in the waters.  The narrow cobbled streets and famous viaduct across the Nidd gorge have made the town a popular spot for photographers whilst tourists are also drawn to the castle and the annual Knaresborough Bed Race.

Knaresborough is the setting for the 2020 film A Very Yorkshire Christmas filmed across the town in 2019 at locations including Knaresborough Castle, the riverside and in the market square.
