Thornton-le-Dale

Thornton-le-Dale

With a cute village green, thatched cottages and a gurgling brook, Thornton-le-Dale is one of the most camera-friendly places in the North York Moors National Park. The charming & picturesque village already attracts many visitors, but is now well and truly on the classic car enthusiasts map thanks to the popularity of Yesterday Channel’s documentary series Bangers & Cash which is filmed here.

Follow the nature trail around the village, or strike out further on a walking trail to nearby Ellerburn, an even smaller hamlet with the ancient St Hilda’s church, where fragments of carved stones dating to the Saxon times have been found. Also nearby is Dalby Forest, a haven for mountain bikers, star gazers and hikers.
